I purchased this bell about 6 months ago as my first kettlebell ever. One of my good friends was given one by her personal trainer brother, so I thought it might be worth chekcing out. I ordered this one, enjoyed Amazon's lovely Prime shipping, and got to work. For a marshmallowy beginner, it was certainly heavy but I persevered and am now quite proudly ready to move up in bell weight! I like this bell because the handle is smooth and large enough to get both my hands on the weight during two handed exercises. The handle is wide enough to catch easily when I do the alternating between arms toss exercise. I much prefer the vinyl coating because this thing has to sit on my floor in my house and the coating prevents scuffs, scrapes, and gouges. When I want to get acrobatic with this weight, I take it outside to the backyard. I can drop it, throw it, trip over it, and be as rough with it as I like and the vinyl still holds up. That's not to say you could toss it into gravel or carve at it with a knife and have the same results, but for general backyard abuse, the vinyl coat stands up well. I am quite fond of my 20 lb bell, and it definitely gives me a good workout. However, you can hurt yourself with these weights (just like you can with any weight) so pay attention to your form and get a lesson or two if you are new to them. Another benefit of the j/fit vinyl kettlebell is that if you purchase more than one, the weights are color coded with the vinyl jacket. If you're looking for a chunk of metal capable of giving you a workout, are concerned about your floors, and enjoy a little color, this is a great choice.
