Expensive and noisy a little afraid doing over head exercises but getting used to it. I like them for the fast adjustments. They are a good design as this is very much a tradeoff with regular weights. I dont like how long they are or the extra thick handle but overall they are good. They MUST be used with the stands they come with, so you have to consider those to be part of the weight set wherever you decide to take them.DO NOT USE THIS OVER YOUR HEAD LAYING ON YOUR BACK. the weights come off and crash down, I have to put a wedge to keep the lock pushed out to keep the weight plates on the barbell. This is a very dangerous item until you figure this out the first time was painful, as I was doing flies the two larger ones came off and one bounced of to one side the other grazed the side of my head which i jerked to keep from catching it with my teeth. So buyers beware with this set. At first I was upset because I ordered the 55pd set and received 25 pd sets instead (price difference aside)(I should have waited for the complete set before writing this review) OK this is a retraction: after receiving the complete kit it is clear that I was the problem. The plates have a specific place to be inserted, the instructions were a little vague for me. Maybe a color stamp or a number would make this a five star set The company was quick to ask for a video of the situation, and I sent it to them, they informed me I had put them in the wrong slot, I moved them over one notch but the heavy weight (at that time) came out again, they immediately said they would send another set and send that one back so they could examine the issue. HOWEVER when the rest of the set arrived (it was shipped in three boxes and the final one arrived a few days later) It was clear that I had to move the plate one more slot then it works. I have used it for flies and over heads and it has worked well. The only time I have an issue is if I bump the buttons on the ends of the barbells. So this is clearly a case of ME not waiting for the complete kit before writing a review. That being said recommendations are: color code dot or have the weight stamped with the proper channel marked would help fix this confusion. I am happy with the set now and felt that this needed to be rectified by me in this post.I don’t have other adjustable weight sets to compare to, so take this for what it’s worth. But I did enough research with other options to know what i didn’t want. I didn’t want bulk because I’m a smaller guy (so no powerblock), and it needed to be absolutely safe/solid (weights can’t fail and fall off). And while this set is on the pricier side, I feel like it meets my needs. The adjustment locks on 2 sides to ensure safety, it’s as small as an 80lb set can be, and the adjustment mechanism is simple and fast. There is a little bit of play with the weights (so it does clunk a little bit, but nothing that bothers me for any of the exercises I do). Plus that little bit of play is necessary to make setting the weight back into its carrier easy (it’s the trade off once you understand the way it works). If you bought the 80lb set, just know that it comes in 4 boxes and it all comes at different days.My only concern is that the manual states that the plastic can absorb water and to only use it in dry places. Kinda vague, but I interpreted this as keep it out of high humid places? I live by the coast and this is in my garage… so this may be a risk. Will update in a couple of months if this turns out to be a problem. After ordering the 80 lb set I was beginning to regret the purchase due to the price and having an old pair at home. However after receiving and using the dumbbells several times I am more than happy with the purchase. The weights are very easy to adjust and feels smooth. When lifting the weights they feel great and the plates have almost non existent slack. They are oversized for certain exercises but that is unavoidable with adjustable dumbbells. The grip can be slightly uncomfortable at first when using heavier weights .I got a set of this product about a month ago and they have really been a nice addition to my home gym. While they are relatively expensive, the cost of buying these dumbbells individually would be insane for a home gym. They are easy to grip and well balanced when loaded. They are very sturdy and reliable. The weight increments are a little weird, but resistance is resistance.I got the 80lb set and the only thing I can find that could be a negative is when you are lifting lower weight. The dumbbell length remains long to accommodate the missing plates and can be cumbersome. It’s a necessary flaw, but just takes some getting used to. I love them and would recommend to anyone that hates commercial gym environments. Also, obviously these are not to be dropped. These is not rubber coated or intended to be drop weights. The ends are plastic and it would probably be game over.ExcellentStand arrived with all parts well packaged and on time. I assembled it and then stood on the platforms. Almost no flexing, very sturdy (I weigh 260). Wheels are black (not red) and the wheel locks could hold it still better. Need to engage all 4 to be confident. The wheena are also quite small so it doesn't roll over bumps easily, brick floor would be a nightmare. Assembly also requires holding 3 parts simultaneously and bolting then together which is slightly tricky, and you need to make sure the verticle post is correctly oriented to get the platforms flat in the end. Finally, I have Nordictrack speed weights, which do not fit on this stand. To make it work I assembled the top platforms upside down (flanges down) and drilled 4 new holes to center the speed weight bases on this stand, then assembled with larger screws. This is not the intended use and you need to understand light metal work and how to center the weights on the bearing point of the stand to do this. It works great for me after making these changes.
